The EULETA Teacher Network Meetings take place on the last Monday of each month and are organized exclusively for EULETA members. Each session focuses on a topic related to legal English instruction. We talk about how to improve our legal English teaching and share ideas, experience, and resources. Come join us!

“Teaching Without Preparation

(When You Have 5 Minutes…)”

One of the joys (and challenges) of teaching lies in its unpredictability. In legal English classrooms, unexpected surprises can cause our best laid plans to go awry.

These moments offer opportunity. Flexibility in unanticipated circumstances make us more effective educators. The ability to quickly invent or redirect a lesson also make us more responsive to the needs of our students.

What is your zero-prep or low-prep activity that always works? How do you adapt to meet the demands of the moment?

Come ready to share your favorite impromptu strategies, and leave with some new tools to navigate the unpredictable with confidence.

External Speaker: Ken Adams on "What’s Wrong with Contract Drafting and How to Fix It." (13 May 2026)

The EULETA External Speaker Training Series features speakers who are experts in their fields and external to EULETA. The talks are on topics which are connected to our work as legal English teachers and which help our continued professional development.

Our next external speaker training event will be on Wednesday 13th May 2026 from 7.00 to 8.30 pm CEST.

Our guest Ken Adams will be speaking about "What’s Wrong with Contract Drafting and How to Fix It."

About Ken Adams:

Ken Adams occupies a unique position in the field of contracts, in that he’s the only commentator to focus on how to say clearly and concisely in a contract whatever you want to say.

Ken’s book A Manual of Style for Contract Drafting has been a best-seller for the American Bar Association since it was published 2004; the fifth edition was published in 2023. His work has been cited by courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court and Delaware courts.

Ken has conducted hundreds of online and in-person Drafting Clearer Contracts presentations internationally, both public and in-house for companies, law firms, and government agencies. He also offers Drafting Clearer Contracts: Masterclass, which is built around eight hour-long weekly sessions. Go here for more information about Ken’s scholarship and training.

Ken is also head of Adams Contracts, a division of LegalSifter that develops highly customizable automated contract templates.

A U.S. citizen, Ken was raised in Africa and Europe; he received all of his secondary and college education in England. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1989, Ken practiced corporate law at major law firms in New York and Geneva, Switzerland.

About Ken Adams's talk:

Contract drafting suffers from serious deficiencies in what contracts say and how they say it, as well as in the process by which contracts are drafted. In this talk, Ken will consider the causes of this dysfunction, why it matters, and what could be done about it.
